Firewatcher / Work Permit Receiver
Firewatchers and Work Permit Receivers (WPR) are required for industrial operations within the Jubail region, specifically in Sipchem project sites. These roles are essential for maintaining strict safety compliance during hot work activities and ensuring that all operations are carried out under approved permit-to-work systems. Firewatchers are responsible for monitoring high-risk activities to prevent fire hazards, while WPR personnel ensure that all work permits are properly issued, verified, and controlled according to site safety regulations. These positions are critical in maintaining safe working conditions in petrochemical and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities and Job Functions
The Firewatcher will be responsible for continuously monitoring areas where hot work such as welding, cutting, or grinding is being performed. The role includes ensuring fire extinguishing equipment is available, identifying potential fire risks, and taking immediate action in case of emergencies. Firewatchers must remain alert throughout the work duration and ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
The Work Permit Receiver (WPR) will be responsible for managing and receiving work permits for site activities. Duties include verifying permit validity, ensuring proper authorization before work begins, coordinating with supervisors and safety officers, and maintaining accurate permit documentation. Both roles require strict adherence to safety protocols and continuous communication with site safety teams.
Required Skills, Experience, and Certifications
Applicants must have prior experience working in industrial or petrochemical environments, preferably with Sipchem approval. Firewatchers should have strong awareness of fire safety procedures, emergency response techniques, and hazard identification skills. WPR candidates must have knowledge of permit-to-work systems, safety documentation, and site coordination procedures.
Candidates should be physically fit, alert, and capable of working in high-risk environments for extended periods. Strong communication skills, discipline, and the ability to follow strict safety instructions are essential. Experience in Saudi industrial projects will be considered an advantage.
