Job Role Overview and Purpose
The Blasting Supervisor position is responsible for supervising blasting and surface preparation activities during shutdown operations. This role ensures that all blasting work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project procedures. Sand Blasters are responsible for cleaning and preparing metal surfaces using industrial blasting techniques before coating or maintenance work begins. Standbyman and Fire Watchers monitor high-risk activities and maintain emergency readiness during shutdown operations. These roles are essential in industrial projects because they help maintain equipment reliability, workplace safety, and smooth maintenance execution during critical shutdown periods.
Key Responsibilities and Work Duties
Blasting Supervisors will manage blasting teams, monitor surface preparation quality, and ensure all activities follow industrial safety procedures. Sand Blasters will operate blasting equipment, prepare surfaces for maintenance or coating work, and ensure proper handling of materials and tools. Standbyman and Fire Watchers will monitor confined space or hot work activities, maintain communication with supervisors, and ensure immediate response during emergencies.
