Safety Officer (Long-Term Assignment)
Role Overview and Offshore Industry Importance
An urgent offshore recruitment has been announced for experienced Safety Officers for a long-term offshore project in Saudi Arabia. This opportunity is designed for highly qualified HSE professionals with both Aramco and Offshore approvals, making it a specialized role within the oil & gas and marine construction industry. Offshore safety operations require strict compliance with international safety regulations due to the high-risk nature of offshore drilling, maintenance, and production activities.
Safety Officers working in offshore environments are responsible for protecting personnel, equipment, and operational systems from hazards that may arise during offshore activities. Their role is extremely important in maintaining safe working conditions on offshore platforms where emergency response readiness, environmental protection, and operational discipline are critical for uninterrupted project execution.
Key Responsibilities and Work Duties
The Safety Officer will monitor offshore operations to ensure compliance with Aramco safety standards and offshore project regulations. Daily responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, identifying hazards, enforcing PPE usage, and monitoring safe work practices during high-risk offshore activities such as confined space work, lifting operations, and hot work.
The role also includes conducting toolbox talks, reviewing permit-to-work systems, maintaining emergency preparedness, and coordinating with supervisors and offshore management teams. Safety Officers are expected to respond quickly during emergencies, ensure all personnel follow safety procedures, and maintain accurate HSE reports and documentation throughout the project duration.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Applicants must possess valid Aramco approval along with Offshore approval certification. Mandatory qualifications include IQMS, BOSEIT, and H2S certifications, which are essential for offshore safety operations. Candidates must also have valid offshore medical clearance before mobilization.
Strong knowledge of offshore safety regulations, emergency response systems, hazard management, and industrial safety standards is required. Previous offshore oil & gas experience is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate leadership ability, strong communication skills, and the capability to manage safety compliance in demanding offshore environments.
