Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Safety Officers are responsible for implementing the project’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Plan to ensure that all work activities comply with company and regulatory safety standards. Their daily responsibilities include conducting risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before work begins, monitoring compliance with safety procedures, and ensuring that all project personnel follow approved work practices. They perform routine site safety inspections, identify unsafe acts and hazardous conditions, recommend corrective actions, and verify that improvements are implemented promptly. Safety Officers are also responsible for managing the Permit to Work (PTW) system by reviewing permits before work starts, ensuring permit conditions are met, and supervising high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, lifting operations, and work at height. In addition, they investigate incidents, prepare detailed safety reports, conduct toolbox talks, promote safety awareness, and coordinate emergency response activities whenever necessary.
